I love those cool tools!

There are spots for more neat items. The mouthpiece works without covering the nostrils.

Not to sound disparaging or anything, but I don't really think that folding spyglass would, well... work.

It seems like you're supposed to look into the hole without a lens and then adjust the middle lens to get a sharp view at the correct distance, however the problem with that is the fact that the "eye-side" lens in this kind of optic tool is meant to "straighten out" the light after it passed through the first lens, for which it needs to be at a specific distance to the eye, so moving it would give you nothing but blur at most adjustments.

Also, the reason why telescopes have tubes in between the lenses, instead of any other way of adjusting their relative position, is to keep stray light out, which otherwise would interfere with getting a good picture. I dont see how the flatter design makes up for these shortcomings, especially since a more traditional spyglass of similar potency could be stored in a much shorter package, and would likely be a bit lighter in weight.

The colour of multi tool's handle also confuses me somewhat, seeing as this sort of bright colouration is usually meant to improve its visilbility in case you drop the tool, and beeing MORE visible seems counterproductive for someone like Reju.

Sleep gas makes absolute sense (as does the air filter), and I LOVE that you included the pen and notebook, all to often authors and artists forget that recording aquired intelligence is just as important as aquiring it in the first place. Nothing worse than bringing back a whole slew of information, only for it to turn out that you forgot some vital detail on the way back.

Apologies for the wall of text, I just felt like I needed to say this.

I have seen and used a folding telescope viewfinder. While not a true telescope it does work.

The Spy-glass is supposed to work like a Monocular ...the smallest hole has a lens as well.

and regarding the colour of the multi tool thingy ...at the night all cats are grey. image

In that point, I stand corrected. I will not claim to be an expertin the matter, regardless of how arrogant my rant seems in retropsect.

If you would be so kind to link a picture of that kind of telescope I would be rather thankful Shamest (I am interested in a real world implementation of the principle, and google decided to not be helpful in the slightest, showing only the conventional kind of telescopes).

not it but sort of

I have been looking. I had one as one joker draws as a kid. The 60s-70s. I bought mine from an ad in the back of a comic book. Several of the kids I played with did too, We were in scouts and also in the spy shows on tv at the time. Mine died because I unwisely kept it in my back pocket.

I have to say wow to the coloring of this drawing. it is awesome. The detail is well done. The marks that show from tools being used and carried look so real. I feel silly not to think how the air filter works. Of course in that situation you close your nostrals

Thank you for the picture Shamest, much appreciated.

Now that I looked closer, I can actually see the line indecating the lens in the small hole. Silly me.

Seems I should keep my smartassery to things I actually understand.

I love this. So detailed down to the tool placements inside the pouches. :)

Reply Edit Delete -JoKeR-, 17th Jun 2022, 11:10 PM

Thanks pal...
I thought it would be good to show their places in the pouches and realised "man I have a lot of space left for more gimmicks ...cool."

Reply Edit Delete Chains, 18th Jun 2022, 8:07 PM

Yeah, leaving empty spaces in this collection is a good idea, from a storytelling perspective.

Reju's big draw as a character is his utility, the fact that he has a great many tools (and skills) at his disposal, which allow him to approach situations from a more interesting angle than other, more "one note" characters would be able, or willing, to.

Locking all the options down too early would diminish that utility, as well as the mystique that is still a vital part of his presentation. We should not know to much about him yet.
